Annie Pforzheimer

After retiring from the senior ranks of the State Department after a 30-year diplomatic career, Annie Pforzheimer has become engaged in opportunities to advance women’s rights, social justice, and principled foreign policy engagement. As a diplomat she represented the United States in six countries on four continents, specializing in security, human rights, and international organizations policies.  She served as the Deputy Chief of Mission in Kabul and Acting Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Afghanistan. She also served as program director for the $1 billion U.S. security assistance to Mexico. She speaks fluent Spanish.

Currently Annie is an Adjunct Professor at City University of New York’s graduate school of journalism, a foreign policy commentator, policy consultant, and political volunteer, and a Board member for two New York-based non-profit organizations and a number of Afghanistan advocacy groups.
